Department of Zoology organized Three day National Workshop on ‘Technological innovations in Aquaculture’ on 10th, 11th & 12th October 2017

The Three day National Workshop organized by the Department of Zoology on Technological innovations in Aquaculture was inaugurated by Dr. C P Shaji, Conservation Biologist on 10-10-2017 followed by the key note address on ‘’Ichthyology and Cultural linkage-A study from Kerala’’. Second session was on ‘’Use of Probiotics in Aquaculture handled by Mujeeb Rahiman, Asst.Professor, Dept of Aquaculture and Fishery Microbiology. The second day (11-10-2017) there were two technical sessions  handled by Anu Radhakrishnan, ATREE Bangaluru, and Dr. Midhun Sukumaran, Asst. Professor, Department of Aquatic Breeding and Fisheries, University of Kerala on Fish Diversity, Conservation and management in Vembanad lake and Blue revolution; scope for tomorrows food security. The last session was a demonstration of Aquaponics by Dr. Midhun Sukumaran.The third day the FN session was on Techniques in fish disease diagnosis by Dr. Mathews Plamoottil, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Zoology, Government College Kollam. This was followed by field visit to Fresh water fish hatchery, Kallanode.The Workshop was well attended by teachers and students from other Colleges and was well appreciated
