National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a Tri-Services youth organization comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force with its Headquarters at New Delhi.The NCC provides school and college students with opportunities to develop discipline, leadership, patriotism, physical fitness, social responsibility and a spirit of selfless service.The NCC is a voluntary organization that enrolls cadets from schools, colleges and universities across India. Through institutional training, camps, parades, physical training, social service activities and leadership programmes, the NCC contributes significantly to the holistic development of young people. While NCC cadets receive basic military training, enrollment does not impose any liability for active military service after completion of the NCC programme.

NCC Unit at Government College, Kodanchery

The NCC Unit of Government College Kodanchery was established on 30 September 2019 under the 30 Kerala Battalion NCC, Calicut Group. The unit has an authorized strength of 106 cadets.The NCC Unit of Government College
Kodanchery functions under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Neeraja V. S., Associate NCC Officer, who coordinates the training, activities and programmes of the unit in accordance with NCC objectives and institutional requirements.

NCC OATH
I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Corps. Further, under the command and control of my Commanding Officer, I
will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly.

The NCC emphasizes four fundamental principles in the conduct and character
of cadets:

ACTIVITIES AND TRAINING
The NCC Unit of Government College Kodanchery conducts a variety of training and developmental activities for the overall growth of cadets.Regular institutional training is organized to develop discipline, physical fitness,leadership qualities, teamwork and awareness of national security and the Armed Forces.Cadets are encouraged to participate in various NCC camps,institutional training programmes and national-level activities. These programmes provide opportunities for cadets to interact with participants from different regions and develop national integration and leadership skills.The unit actively encourages cadets to participate in social-service and community-oriented programmes. Such activities promote a sense of responsibility, compassion and commitment to society.The NCC unit organizes programmes that enhance leadership, communication, teamwork and other skills required for personal and professional development. The unit also facilitates programmes such as civil service orientation and career-awareness
seminars.Participation in NCC camps and programmes enables cadets to understand India’s cultural diversity and strengthens the spirit of national unity and integration.
